Information You Submit
Text entered in a search form, such as a name, telephone number, or address, goes to the outside provider that supplies the results. Our servers do not retain a separate copy of those search terms. A message sent through the contact route contains whatever the sender includes, and we use it to answer that message.
Information Collected Automatically
Standard server logs can record an IP address, browser type, timestamp, and pages requested. Aggregated logs help diagnose errors and show which resources are useful. Cookies or similar tools may also support basic audience analytics and advertising measurement where those services apply.
How Information Is Used
We use this limited data to run the site, resolve technical faults, measure visits, and refine content. We neither create individual visitor profiles nor sell a visitor list.
Privacy on Linked Services
Links lead to county and state offices, court systems, libraries, and outside search services. Information entered after following a link is controlled by that destination's policy. The same distinction applies to sponsored results, which an independent provider delivers.
Who May Process Information
Hosting and technical vendors may process logs for us. Analytics or advertising services can receive the automatic information described above. We may disclose information when valid legal process requires it, but we do not otherwise distribute visitor data.
Security and Retention
An encrypted connection protects traffic in transit, and logs are kept only as long as their stated purpose requires. Since visitors do not create accounts, the site holds no user password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
The service is meant for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if a minor has sent such information so it can be removed.
California Privacy Rights
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, may give California residents rights to know, correct, delete, or opt out of certain handling of personal information by covered businesses. A request sent through the Contact page can ask us to search the contact mailbox and available server logs. Government records held by Santa Barbara County, its cities, courts, or California agencies remain with those custodians. Access to state and local administrative records is governed by the California Public Records Act, Government Code ยง 7920.000 et seq., along with other laws that apply to a specific record.
